Usually the best MPG is when the car is in top gear and at a low RPM level. I would guess about 45-50 MPH. Also, check the air in the tires and if you don't need it, turn off the A/C. Anything you can do to make the car run easier with less drag will help. Even down to waxing the car for less wind resistance. Driving habits also are a big factor in gas mileage either good or bad.

The best gas milege is obtained when an engine is running at its maximun power band, that is if an engine is making x amount of torque at a certain rpm then that would be the best. The speed of the car is determined by the gears and of course there is what is called cruising speed where all comes toghether and you get the best mpg, but then again here it may not be the legal speed limit so just do your best and have it tune up for best perfomance. Also remember that Diesel fuel today is different because of emissions control we are getting less mpg.

i love interpreting solutions like those at the same time as the question is so vast and imprecise that is meaningless!! I highly like the single the position diesel is extra useful for the ecosystem? Why? the first ingredient you would possibly want to think about if you're comparing like vehicles with distinct engines. Diesel vs Petrol (gas for the Yanks!!). If all issues are equivalent, then you fairly seem at upkeep and service, torque, economic gadget - and by no potential in mpg yet as a fee in preserving with mile via adjustments contained in the expenditures of gas. in case you want overall performance, then seem at acceleration and hp stats as well as torque. if you're hauling a huge boat each of the time, torque will grow to be extra significant. then you fairly seem at what the engines have on them to get usable numbers. Does it take twin turbos or a supercharger to get the overall performance effective factors for the vehicle type for a similar vehicle with the commerce engine? those upload upkeep topics and conceivable higher restore expenditures. the reality is that is about what you sense tender with and what makes the most sense for you. because i know that there are diesel engines in many smaller vehicles in Europe, a Ford Ranger with a diesel is very cool. there is no longer everybody is extra useful than the different, they both have sources and liabilities.

Look up the engine specs for torque, it will probably say something like 89 Nm at 2200rpm. The most economical speed is in top gear at or just above the rpm for max torque

As above but 50 - 60 might be better, the point is not to let the car labour through going too slow while not going faster than you need to keep smooth. also any extra weight like tool boxes, luggage , passengers etc will increase the cost, so only take what is necessary.
