I may sound a little wacko here but I believe that if you want to talk to someone that has died, that all you have to do is think about them and they know it. Anyone. Wheather it was someone you personally knew or just someone you knew of. I believe their soul is somehow connected through our thoughts. Does anyone else feel the way I do?

Yes I feel the same way. Who we are is made up of so much more than the physical bodies we have while alive. I have said things to others that have passed on and believe wholeheartedly that we can still communicate with them, the only difference is that we cannot hear their reply.

In the Orthodox Christian faith (sometimes called "Eastern Orthodoxy") we take our dead VERY seriously.

Why not?

If I have a problem, and I call a fellow Christian and ask them to remember me in their prayers, is this not natural?

How much more natural then for us to ask the dead to pray on our behalf.

You see, in Orthodoxy, we do not think as the west does, in that we do not believe that the invisible is separated from the visible.

On the contrary (using my own beliefs as an example) we believe in what is known as "The Body of Christ" which is ALL those who have true faith in God on God's terms (not ours), the living as well as the dead.

In fact (not meaning to attack you with Bible verses) but Paul writes in the New Testament that "...now we see through a glass darkly; then we shall see face to face"

So, there is an implication here (that we accept as theology because this theme is repeated in scripture) that our view of this world, the universe, eternity--is DISTORTED.

Our eyes are fully opened in the life to come, according to our faith.

So gee, if someone has died and embraced God and not evil, then they are likely a very good person to talk to through prayers.

Just don't worship anyone but God.

At least, that's what we believe...

YES you are connected to that person, It is normal for some people to do this they are more intune with the EARTH than others. People who pray or meditate seem to be more receptive than others. Remember some religions don't allow this they think that your are a devil worshiper or a witch if you do. This is their belief don't let them frighten you into denying your ability. relax and enjoy having someone to talk to when you need it.

~According to my religion, those that have passed know no sorrow. So if I talked to them about my sorrows, which is when I miss them that I talk to them (not always out loud), they wouldn't hear it because it's sad.
I am a Native American Indian though and have had spirits come to me. I don't know why my ancestors come to me and I don't know if they know my thoughts. I have been told when they come to me, they are trying to tell me something is wrong.
There are times when I will call out my grandparents names out of sadness and feel their presence. Whether it's there or not, I don't know. *shrugs*~
