What may seem to you to be a random or unplanned system of placing things in a supermarket is in fact a well thought out method of influencing customers to purchase things. Just cast your mind back to the time you went looking for the pack of screws. Why did you have to walk up and down every gangway? If you were looking for someones house would you walk up and down every street? I think you might use a map. Can you find a map of a supermarket? I think not. Having passed all the stock in the shop were the screws the only things you purchased? Looked at? Were tempted to buy? Though about buying in the future? Do you still think that the marketing psychologists are crazy?

They're hoping you will buy something else on impulse. That's why supermarkets change the layout as soon as you know where everything is.

Actually, you don't have to....support the little guy...shop at your local hardware store.
