Does any one else feel that the Govenment is using "Safety" and "Security" as reasons to take away Freedom, Liberty, and Privacy away from the American People? Do you ever feel the government is trying to ease in control like the Gestapo of Nazi Germany?

I'm in favor of added security, but you can bet many of the new laws go over the line.

I don't think the intentions are to be more like the Gestapo, but a common problem with government is this step towards more & more control over our lives.

And it's not just republicans. The Dems can be pretty bad at legistlating the living daylights out of businesses. And the Dems in California are trying to outlaw spanking. and though I hate cigerette smoke, I think most buisnesses should be allowed to have smoking sections, but not according to some liberals.

We need to protect ourselves from these politicians who want to protect us fromourselves.

I think the more important issue should be is there a real and credible threat to safety and security. Yes the government talks a lot about it, and yes there are things such as the Patriot Act, but unlike Nazi Germany, I don't think the American public can say our government is fabricating safety and security issues. The second thing that should be considered is how much personal privacy or freedom are you willing to give up for your protection? The public demands protection from crime, from terrorism, from everything really, but true and complete protection has a price tag attached to it--personal freedoms are infringed upon by a rising security demand and security legislation. I'm a firm believer in the constitution and the bill of rights and there are certain liberties I'd never want to be without--but you won't hear me whining for the government to stop terrorism if I'm opposed to new security measures that allow the authorities to combat it.

http://www.freedomtofascism.com order yourself a copy of the movie. http://www.ronpaulexplore.com start supporting Congressman Paul today or wind up with choices approved by the owners of the Federal Reserve. http://www.taxfoundation.org has compiled compelling evidence that big government is suffocating us economically. 5%-33% in 100 years plus the results of deficit spending.

Next year Americans will be carrying a National ID card and RFID chips are to be put into our Driver's Licenses so that big brother can keep tabs on us at any time.

People are idiots by and large. They think government is here to protect us. Take seat belts for example. Most people think seat belts save lives. While I can show you how seat belts actually cut a person in half and argue the other side of the coin it probably won't do much good if you're stubbornly opinionated. However, I can prove conclusively that without you staying alive government bureaucrats wouldn't take home their cushy paychecks, benefits and pensions at your expense. You must stay alive so bureaucrats and the owners of the Federal Reserve gain financially.

Most Americans are going to be filing income taxes again this year. Did you know there is no law that requires you to pay personal income taxes? If anyone can show me the law I'll pay them over $200K. There is no law!

Did you know that the money collected by the personal income tax only goes to pay the interest on the national debt? All other government budget items are paid for without personal income taxes by other taxes/revenue to the US Government. Did you know the owners of the Federal Reserve benefit financially because most Americans are clueless as to how the Fed operates and actually believe what the puppets (I mean politicians) and the propagandists (I mean media) tell/sell us?

We're not too far from Nazi Germany and this problem is hardly exclusive to just the Demonrats. Most Republicans are also puppets to the owners of the Federal Reserve. Congressman Ron Paul actually has a spine and has a track record of standing up to the private bankers that are running America into the ground. http://www.ronpaulexplore.com is where you can encourage him to run for President so we'll have a choice aside from the ones (Clinton, Obama, McCain, Guilianni and others) that the owners of the Federal Reserve have already chosen for us.

I don't believe that the intent of Government is to remove any of our freedoms. They are desperately trying to protect us from the chemical, biological or nucleur attacks which will undoubtedly come our way soon.

We may have to sacrifice a few luxuries to allow Government to protect us as best they can, and I think most of us will comply gladly.

Yes. The Patriot Act is a good example. As for the first answerer, who was it that said "Any body willing to give up their freedom for safety deserve neither"? It's happening just like George Orwell predicted.

absolutely not. I believe if the government wants to tap into my phone conversation then so be it I have nothing to hide, if they wanna do a background check same applies to above. I want to be safe and not fear another 9/11 will come about.

Yes, Bush has used scare tactics to take away more and more of our freedoms. The nazis did this in the beginning with the propoganda to protect the public from mentally ill and other undesirables.
