Great question. I don't think you can ever NOT be a student or NOT be a teacher. No matter what you do in life, you are learning. Whether or not you are learning something particularly useful (according to whomever's definition of useful) is another story. Therefore, you are ALWAYS a student. Likewise, I don't think you can ever not be a teacher. It you accept that you are always a student, then everyone around you is a teacher. Get it? If people always learning, then they are also always teaching. We are simultaneously both things. As a student, I learn from people, regardless of whether or not they consciously believe they are teaching me. As a student, OTHERS are learning from me, whether of not I consciously believe I am teaching THEM. Bottomline is: neither is better because both exist at once and either one is required for the other to exist. Keep up the good questions!

There is value to the teacher in educating the student, but he is not a teacher without the student.
One isn't better than the other because they both need each other.
Most people are both. As we learn throughout life we also teach what we learn.

Teacher is also a student.Because everybody studying always throughout life. It never ends. We study from surroundings, friends, teachers, elders, animals, etc... And the teacher also studying like this.
You have to ask questions to your teacher. And your teacher would some knowledge from you. That time you are also become a little teacher.
A man is a student till the end of his life. There is not any difference between student and teacher.
Making knowledge and giving knowledge are important. But making knowledge is greater. So I think that to be a student is better.

As a student, you can learn a lot and ask questions. Asking is really your privilege. Some kind of interconnection between you and your teacher is obvious, I think. And, in addition, your teacher can learn a lot from your questions, I'm sure.
As a teacher, you must be sure that everything you tell is so true as you can be sure. And you shall answer the questions of the students!
I have "worked" as a student and as a teacher - and those have been nice days, both as a student and a teacher!

They are one and the same. A good teacher can learn from the student. A good student will learn from the teacher. The student gets satisfaction from information received and that justifies his efforts in seeking education, just as the teacher derives satisfaction in the passing of information which justifies his profession. It's a bit like asking is it better to give or receive. The receiver will enjoy the gift and the giver will have the satisfaction of that enjoyment. As in everything worthwhile in life, it is a cycle.

Yes.... the student is responsible only to himself and to some extent to his family... but the teacher's responsibility is to the whole society.
Moreover, teaching is much more difficult than learning... the child is born with the capability to learn, but the teaching capability needs to be acquired with a lot of effort and acumen.
Philosophically speaking though, all of us are students and there is but one great teacher... that is life!!

Of course it is better to be a student than a teacher . As a student you don't have responsability because you teach nothing, and you are free to make mistakes ...As a teacher you musn't make mistakes , especially teacher in literature e.g. because aspects of the life of your student depends on your teachings...

It's good to be both. If you teach me what you know than I can learn from you, If I teach you what I've learned than you will know from me.Everyday we learn and everyday we teach to our children, family and friends.
