I have had on and off B. hicks for a few days and but yesterday they started to seem like contractions. They came every hr, then half hr then every 20 mins accompanied by backace and period pains + loose bowels for a few days. i was told to go to sleep as it was in the night and i managed to do so when they started every 15mins..but when i woke up three hrs later, this morning, it had stopped. I still have a 'funny' feeling down there, sort of a pressure, esp when i go to the toilet. head's been engaged for 6 weeks and i am two days away from due date. Was this just false labour or can it be the early signs and then stop for it to come back later? pls help..i am desperate to start labour, ha ha

Yes, it was probably false labour. Like braxton hicks, only it's more like real labour and many women think they ARE in actual labour. It probably isn't far off though.

I think it was probably false labour yet being so close to your due date it is your body practising and real labour is likely to kick in soon.. I know how your feeling though. I am 39 weeks 2day and had about 4 false alarms now. Constant b.hicks, loose bowels, unbelievable pressure, feeling sick, backache.. etc.. The 1st couple i wasn't so sure but the last one i was certain i was in labour (and this is my second) they went on all night, i got no sleep then about 7am they just sort of ground to a halt. I was so upset. Making me feel like a failure as a women and that i don't even know my own body.. Probably just my hormones though.. LOL! Good luck and i know it will happen soon for you. Take care. Xx

It could be false labor, but if you want to try to get it going again I would suggest either having sex ( the semen acts as a prostaglandin on your cervix and helps get it going) or Nipple stimulation ( either with your fingers, or a breast pump- just make sure that if you start to have contractions while you are stimulating, to stop during the contractions to avoid uterine over- stimulation, and if it causes monster contractions, call the doc) other things if you have them already, red raspberry leaf tea!
good luck, and remember if these dont work... you won't be pregnant indefinately ( and I do know how you feel, I lost my mucus plug today, off and on braxton hicks and then nothing... I am 39 weeks 2 days.)

Yes it can stop. I was booked in for a c-section on my due date and 2 days before it looked like it was all systems go and the hospital even booked me into the labour siute. As my contractions were 7mins apart. It was all recorded on a monitor but by the morning it had all stopped and i had to have the c-section in the end. I hope that answers your question!!!!!!

yes i think these were false labour pains, it can happen a few times before you go into proper labour, i know when it happened to me with my first i went up the hospital three times only for them to send me home again, it is quite difficult to tell whether you are getting false labour pains or early labour pains, the only thing i can suggest is if the pain becomes more than you can handle and the contractions are getting stronger and closer together go to the hospital and get checked over, best of luck for your upcoming birth

I false labour with my first baby. It felt so convincing we rushed up to the hospital and were in the labour room for about 2 hours before they decided it was only a false alarm.
If you are worried, call your midwife or just go to the hospital ,you are booked in with them anyway and will be seen.

I don't think looks have anything to do with it. You should call him and ask him what's up. Don't push him for answers though. Accept the fact that maybe all you were to him was a friend and he realized maybe he was leading you on. Also, sometimes people stop talking and fall into that pattern, even the best of friends. Invite him to hangout and if he declines, move on. It's okay and you will find someone who likes you for you. Good luck.

Oh yes,

My sister went to hospital twice but soon as she got into the hospital it stopped. Third time she did not go and had a great home delivery with the help of husband and the ambulance service. Lovely bouncing baby boy.

it is the false labour, as if you would have the labour pain you would not be able to sleep
