Most Africans belong to one tribe or another. The colonial borders of most African 'nations' reflect the old territorial claims of European colonialist explorers. Think Yugoslavia. Do the situations in certain countries-the Sudan, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Uganda, Somalia-really surprise you? Africans are more loyal to their tribes than to their 'nations'.
