First you have to ask the question what is white? A few years ago white meant Caucasian and that included everything with the same bone structure, everyone from The Norse to Asian Indians and in an older sub section the Aboriginals of Australia. The Arabs and Jews Of that day along with the Romans would have been in this group. I am "white" yet withing days of being in the sun I tan quite dark. Yet am I then Brown? In the time of the Bible when describing Negroids they used the country they most often traded with Ethiopia. When at the Birth of Jesus they made a reference to the Fact that A King or wise man was Ethiopian, was referring to a Black Man. If you assumed Jesus was Black it would be like being at Desmond Tutu's house for a party and then saying "even a Black man showed!" it would make no sense if all the guests and the Host was black to point it out.

The "pictures of Jesus" that hang in most churches were based on paintings made by Europeans during the Renaissance. They do not reflect what Jesus actually looked like.

Think about it. Jesus was born in the Middle East to Jewish parents and was a carpenter, and yet in the pictures he looks neither Jewish, nor from the Middle East and he doesn't look like he's spent any time out in the sun. The pictures are wrong.

I'm assuming that you are kidding, but just in case, I will give you a straight answer.

Jesus was born in Nazareth and he was Jewish.

"White" as we know it are the descendants of Nordic tribes (who had fair skin and larger bones)- not the Jews (who have darker skin and smaller bone structure). Somewhere, some time, some how, pictures of Jesus were "Europeanized". They were made showing him as a white man with brown eyes and brown hair- probably so it would appeal more to those of us from Europe. Since pictures and statues of him looking that way go back as far as the Roman Catholic Church does, I would assume that they were the ones responsible for the change.

as i understand it photography was not invented till a very long long time after jesus was dead. maybe i am wrong but i have only seen paintings. and any painting is nothing more than an artist rendition of what happened. jesus was born into the roman empire and because of the sheer size of the empire it is totally possible that jesus could have been white. but it is more likely that due to the area in which he was born he had more of a brown tone to his skin. his skin tone was probably very similar to osama or hussein. personally i do not see any reason whatsoever why the colour of his skin makes a difference. he walked on water, healed the blind, fed the hungry, and died for my sins, he could have been purple for all i care and i would still admire respect love and pray to him just the same.

Its not people but the Bible itself. Check out the description of Christ Jesus in the Book of Revelation.

What is your definition of "white"?

Jesus was a Semite from the Levant, not an Ashkenazy from Germany. He would therefore have an olive complexion and likely a hooked nose, dark hair and dark eyes, i.e. he would look like a latter-day Arab.

Lol! There are no photos of Jesus! Cameras weren't invented then in case you didn't know! And there are no actual "portraits" of him.

He was actually a Middle Eastern Jew so would have been of Middle Eastern, Jewish appearance.

...Jesus is white ? !!!! Oh My God !!! say it ain't so...? Ahhh, what "pictures" have we seene of him...? 2007 years ago "they" had NO VIDEO equpt !!!! If you've got pictures, I want to see them !!!! Now about the "white" thing... Look at the area of the World where He was born... and look at the Tribe of people that His mother was from... they are "dark" complected...(most likely very dark complected, dark brown eyed people... white...? you must be thinking of "Hollywoods" Jesus... By the way "Yeshua" (that is His Jewish./Hebrew name...most likely what "momma" called him)... was born of a Hebrew girl, grew up a Jew, participated in all he Jewish festivals and triditions and was a teacher (Rabbi) in the Temple... His own Disciples called Him "Rabbi"...so.... tell that to the local Cathloic priest... Yeshua was./is a Jew !!!! always has been, always will be !!!! (It's all in The Book...great reading, try it ).
