There are several ways I believe. You can use an ftp program like Cute ftp and it will do it for you - don't know cost of program.

Internet Explorer can do it but there are risks - if it is a large file you are downloading and transfer is interrupted for any reason you have to restart the download at the beginning - big pain in the bum!!

I use a FREE program called GIGANET from Giganology

http://www.gigaget.com

It is a download manager and if your transfer is stopped for any reason - even if you want to go to bed and continue tomorrow, it restarts where it left off. You can also set it to turn off the computer once it has finished downloading the file/s.

All you do is go to the ftp site and click on the file and let Giganet do the rest for you. Best of all its FREE.

You can upload to an ftp site using Internet Explorer by opening the ftp site and dragging the file onto it. Same risks as downloading. Some ftp programs will aloso upload for you.

Something to be aware of is rights: Does the site you want to download from require any payment first or login details such as a specific username or ID? Some sites only require an anonymous login with your email address as user ID, all handled automatiucally by Giganet.

Download a FTP client. There are many out there, but a free one I like to use is Filezilla. Very quick and easy to you. Just enter the ftp address and download or upload.
