Because most points in the universe are VERY far away from any star, and hence get very very very little starlight.

Why the night sky is dark is partly for that reason, but mainly for another closely related one. The further away a light source is, the less light it sends to YOU. A light bulb, for example, can seem brighter than the sun if you are close enough to the lamp, and a huge spotlight some miles away might be invisible while you can see the flicker of a nearby lamp.

Well, except for the sun other stars are VERY far away.

nicely the earth is vivid on one component by means of fact the sunlight is hitting it from (quite) no longer too some distance away. A small ninety 3 million miles (on established). area between galaxies are many gentle years aside. gentle waves do nevertheless return and forth between those galaxies (of course considering you will see them :o) in spite of the undeniable fact that they disperse. Take a flashlight and shine it on an merchandise some distance away. no remember if that's an invaluable flastlight you will see it hit the object and in case you have been the object it became being shined at of course you will see it. Now think of being suitable in front of it, yet at an perspective...it may nevertheless be distinctly vivid. in case you stood lots further away it may be dimmer. directly to the rationalization the "historic past" of area seems darkish nonetheless. I certainly have heard various issues formerly, however the main difficulty-loose I pay attention is that what we are seeing is the historic past radiation, maintains to be of the huge bang. different theories comprise that that's "darkish remember" which supposedly money owed for ninety% of the mass of the universe.

in space there is something called abosutle 0 this does not exist in space because it only exists in a perfect vaccum. however u cannot create a perfect vaccum becuse nothing can hold nothing. however people say the create a vaccum it is really an extremly low desity atmosphere. this applies to space as in space although there is light it is so dim it is impossible to see from the naked eye. you can see the sun because the light travels direclty to your eye. however in space the light cannot reflect or refect and as the universe is expaning the light fills the edge of the universe which we cannot see and so space appears to be dark.

hope that answers you question
if not e-mail me at mattmister@hotmail.co.uk and i will try to explain it to you.

There is light in Earth just because of the Sun (and the light bulbs, Moon, stars, etc.) So if you had none of that far away in space, it would be all dark--which it is.

the universe is so dark because altho their r bright stars,
their is so much space that their is nothing to bounce of of so the light sorta keeps going
and eventually gets sucked into a black hole
their r trillions of lightyears of distance between stars
thats y u can't see any light

there is nothing for the light to reflect off of in space, if there was a thing, you could see it. like another ship, it would appear as in daylight.
