Sales from their last CD were not accurate. What we were not told was that the sells reported were consignments to Distributors - because the Dixie Chicks have a Buy back clause in their distributor contracts instead of a "return unsold" agreement. The agreement also states that they have to buyback stock not sold at a higher price than the distributor paid for the inventory to compensate for stock space.

This is done with many artists.

Regardless of what method you're talking about, the Dixie Chicks are the highest selling female group of all time, in any genre. This is a fact. With their 5 Grammy wins and fearless determination to take on a bunch of ignorant conservatives, I can't see them bowing out any time soon. The comment Natalie Maines made was a jumpstart for this awesome new record.

That doesn't explain how they wound up so high in the Amazon.com sales rank and other customer-driven rankings. I suspect you have been the victim of some irrelevant factoid spin, yourself.
I expect they will last as long as they want to make music. They have picked up a lot of new fans - probably more than they lost.

I deeply respect the dixie chicks they have there beliefs and they stick to them even after death threats texas people smashing there cds for not going along with republicians and disliking president bush they are promising young ladies
