I hope you know how to use Brake Fluid for your model of car.

On modern cars its not a matter of just sticking it in and pumping the brake.

Check your handbook, it'll tell you what grade oil to get (getting the wrong type can screw up the engine). £8 - £12. The handbook will also tell you the type of brake fluid to get - again, like oil it comes in grades so you have to get the right one. Cost, about £4 - £6. Coolant, well, just buy the best one you can. Anything from £2 if cheapy, to £6. You can get them at Halfords, the car dealership garage will charge more, an independent garage may be a bit cheaper than Halfords. You can top up all these fluids yourself, just don't overfil the oil - a mate of mine did that and then ended up with an engine that was smoking like a chimney.

You can... but make sure you buy the right one, there are several types.
Personaly I always go to Milehams (my local indipendant car spares shop here in Hatfield) where they guys know or can look up everything I need and have never once been mistaken. Also, I am keeping a small business alive, not a huge national retailer.

yes but dont let halfords do it as they are rubbish at servicing cars as the mechanics are not paid enough to care about the job they do

yes, but check your car hand book as there are a couple of different types (dot ratings ) , the wrong one and all your seals will go, if your topping up check all round the car including the wheel brakes in case you have a leak
