If the ovum is not fertilized by around the twenty-eighth day of the cycle, the body sheds the endometrium through bleeding. The blood and tissue leaves the uterus through the cervix and is discharged through the vagina. This shedding of the endometrium is menstruation. Menstruation begins the cycle again. A woman is less likely to get pregnant while menstruating than at any other time in the cycle, but there is still a chance of pregnancy at this point, especially for women with irregular cycles.

In a word, yes they can.If a woman tends to ovulates early in her cycle she may have fertile mucus at the end of her menstrual cycle which is masked by the blood.Since sperm can live for up to 72 hoursshe may have had sex at that time with the sperm being ready and available when the egg was released a few days later. This only happens in women who ovulate fairly early, so not sure this would be the answer your teacher is looking for,but a good thing to know anyways.

It is possible, but not very probable. The reason its possible is irregular periods, the previous cycle being annovulatory (where no egg was released) or it not being an actual period.

Dinah L-I doubt very much that your friend got pregnant from that intercourse session. The reason that she was told that she was six weeks pregnant, wasn't because thats when she conceieved, its because doctors use the first day of your last period as a dating excerise for pregnancy, as that is when the egg starts to mature.

Good luck on your test. Scary some of these people talk like they truly know something. BIG warning here, YES, it is always possible!!!!

Though highly unlikely, women can get pregnant during their period. They can ovulate during their period and the sperm can live in the body for up to three days. The only surefire method to guarantee one does NOT get pregnant is abstinence!! ANY sexual activity, regardless of birth control practises, CAN result in pregnancy.

Yes you can. It is rare but possible. You have to remember some men have super sperm that can last up to 14 days ( I couldn't believe it either!). So if you only had sex once in the middle of your period you could still conceive. I had a long discussion with a pharmacist about this. I have also heard but have not come across any proof that it is possible to ovulate whiles having a period.

Good luck with your test :)

Generally the answer is 'No' but you should remember that sperm takes time to reach the egg, as much as three days. If you have intercourse on the last day of menstruation then there may be up to three days for the sperm to reach the egg and fertilise it.
