She will definitely have problems with this name when she is older. Kids will find it impossible not to tease her with this name. "Here comes the 'Storm". BTW, my maiden name was constantly confused with "Storm" along with "Strong" and "Strum". People will always always ask "Come again" when she says her name. Some names you can get away with like "Autumn" or "Summer", but NOT Storm. Maybe you can change her mind, but I doubt it, especially being pregnant, she will be less aware of what is socially acceptable or just plain "OK"....GOOD LUCK!

Tell her to consider this: she's not naming a goldfish or the pet cat; this is a human being that will have to carry around this name for the rest of their lives. We all know how cruel other children can be, and making fun of someone with an odd name is right up there at the top of the list.
How would she like the name Storm? Address her as such.

Perhaps she should name subsequent children Rogue and Wolverine.... Or perhaps I'm just a geek.

I'm not sure Storm as good associations, granted it may be seen as powerful and dramatic but also petulant, unpredictable, unreasonable, and, of course, wet.

I think she should at least give the girl a "normal" middle name so that in the event that Storm is shy and retiring she could choose to be called Emily (for example) instead.

oh no...i am not a huge fan of the names like Storm, Emerald, Autumn, Nevaeh, etc...

Stormie will be her nickname and that screams 1970's cheesy romance novel, in my opinion.

and can you imagine her all grown up, our next speaker will be Dr. Storm Smith from......i don't think so...

can you advise her to use Storm as a middle name?

Good Luck. SD

I knew a girl named Thunder, and boy, was she the little storm! Kids usually live up to their names. I'd tell her to proceed with caution!

Well ur her friend, and most likely she'll listen to u. So y don't u ask her what's her second choice of baby names and suggest for her to change Storm to the baby's middle name.

Be honest, don't u think that Storm just sounds like she's gonna cause bad things. Well idk, cause usually when people have names like that they usually be quiet and content.

But, just tell her how u feel bout the name. And give her other choices. Like Heaven, Rain, Petal, Stone, idk seems like she likes nature.

Then that'll be sooo cute if u think bout it Rain Storm!!! But anyways I like names like Melanie, Myalenn, Destiny, Sierra, Crystal, Anika, Mirra, Aneya, Kaniya, Marissa, Chanell, Miara, Tekeara, Shine, Candle, Carissa, Aolani, etc.

oh no, not storm, but if your friend is comfortable with it then i guess you have no choice but to accept it. but your friend should really think whether or not her daughter will like the name as she gets older. storm sounds too much like the mutant from x-men.

AWFUL name. That's horrible to do that to her child. In Australia, the only ones with that name are s k i m p i es working in pubs ( the ones who wear see-through tops)... (they make up that name for their work obviously).

Talk your friend out of it if possible. Suggest other creative names.
What about the name Summer? Summer Grace. That is a pretty name.

I've heard of alot of kids named Stormie, but Storm is quite different. I don't really care for it. But, it's her child and her decision.
