You don't say if it's a boy or a girl. For a girl, a sleepover party with a few friends is nice. Order pizza, have a couple good DVDs available to watch.

For a boy, a party with an activity is nice. If he's into sports, a basketball or hockey game, or maybe take everyone to a rock climbing wall place or one of those indoor sports places where they have lots of activities. If he's not into sports, take the kids to a movie and have the cake at a pizza place afterwards.

I think by 6th grade kids have out grown all the standard fast food resturants. The main thing would be to find an activity to work around. Our bowling alley has birthday parties there. Do you have a skating rink near by? We have a few churches that you can rent the fellowship hall and have a party at.

I know this isn't a real "theme" but I think sleepovers are really fun for 6th graders. Bring board games, watch movies, tell secrets, and stay up late!

If its for a girl, have each girl bring their favorite outfit and have a "fashion show." if its for a boy, have them bring their favorite game system game and the boys can play in teams.
