I believe that the divorce rate in America is staggeringly high, though I don't know the exact percentage.
Marriage to a lot of people isn't 'til death' anymore. It is so easy to get a divorce, to give up and walk away, that people do that instead of working things out.
My brother was married about two years, they have a one and a half year old son, and are in the middle of a divorce.
My friend left her husband of five years on a whim in November and was remarried to some other guy in January.
My grandparents just celebrated fifty years last year.
I think that people give up and that is why the rate is so high. Premarital sex is a normal thing here so I know they don't marry for sexual reasons since most have been intimate before the vows. This is part of the reason the divorce rate is so high as well. Morals are vapor here.
The only cure for America and the divorce rate is Jesus Christ but everyone would rather not believe that and continue doing their own thing. Therefore, it's only going to get worse.

Don't tell someone not to take offense and then accuse them of not caring about their relationships as the reason for the high divorce rate!!
There are many factors as to why this is - getting married too young, for the wrong reasons, cheating, falling out of love, becoming bored, outside pressures, death of a child, and on and on and on - and there are numerous reasons behind each of those reasons.
Obsessed with sex? You want to see obsessed with sex, study the dolphins, they tend to have more recreational sex with multiple partners than a lot of human men do with women!!

No, it doesn't mean that. We do care about relationships, just in a different way and speaking of sex, I've been to England 4 times and I got lost once, separated from my husband and ended up in your red district. Whoa! Obsession? You are obsessed. I have heard about the Amsterdam red light zone. America is not like that. No pictures of naked women painted on buildings. That's considered obscene and lewd and would never be allowed. No offense taken by the way.

It's not that people don't care about their relationships....we live in a "disposable" world...we use disposable eating utensils, plates cups, anything you can you and then throw away. In relationships, people do that with their wives/husbands. They get tired of them and then just "throw them away" and look for someone new. They either have affairs with other people and reap the consequences...

no. it is because to many people think that strong emotional connection is the only thing you need in a marriage but that goes away you need a strong friendship and love to make it work.
