I like Meika, Mieka looks a little odd.

Meika is very different. I think it is kind of cute but seems like a nickname, short for Tameika or another name that has the me-ka sound in it.

I like the spelling Meika. The other spelling will be misprounced more often - My-ka.

Good Luck. SD

Hmmm... because I have studied German, I would use the "ei" and "ie" rules to apply to these names. "ie" make the long "e" sound, and "ei" make the long "i" sound... like "heinze" ketchup. But how many people actually would apply those rules? I'm sure if you name her "mieka" you would get "my-ee-ka" but then "meika" just wouldn't be spelled properly... I don't know... I heard when it is hard to decipher the pronunciation of a name, you should just not go with it when naming a baby. Good luck!

Is it pronounce Mee-ka or Me-ka? Is there a stress on the e or is it a short sound?

I prefer the spelling Meika.

okay, i'm not really open to new names but i actually like this one. it sounds cute :) if i'm pronouncing it the right way though, is it like mee-ka. like the e is long?
anyways, i think i like meika better...just because if people read mieka they might say my-eka.
anyways, good luck!

I'm assuming it's for a girl? I like it. I would say go w/ Mieka. Teachers and other ppl may have a problem pronouncing it, but w/ the 'i' first, it may make it easier. It's a beautiful name.

I don't personally care for the name because my neighbor named her dog that but if you like it, that's all that matters. As for the spelling, I'd choose "Mieka" going by the "i" after "e" except after "c" rule. The name may be pronounced correctly if you go with the spelling I prefer.

The name is okay. The spelling Meika is more attractive in my opinion, however there will be problems with pronunciation either way.
