I am a woman and I can't answer that question. She is going to be hurt no matter how you tell her. I think you should just be honest and let her know what you are feeling. She's going to take it hard no matter what.

With all the jokers on here it's hard to tell if the question is real but in case it is here is my advice. I would say tell her by phone or letter AFTER you have taken everything you want to keep out of the house and taken your share of the money you have. I know that seems cowardly but you don't even want to see how she is going to react to this. This will be about as ugly as it gets my friend. You might also look for a new town to live in because your name won't be worth two cents before this is over. I hope you don't have kids. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorn"

There's no way to put this in order to get a favorable reaction from your wife. Might as well just say "Honey, I'm gay and in love with our neighbor."
