I can't understand why I hate (no, hate is too strong a word) dislike and always deride my sister, who is four years younger than me (I am 19) The only clues I have to this problem is that I dislike my mother's wild and spirited character, though I love her, I'm embarrassed of her. When I was young, my friends used to make fun of my mom right in my face. And this wild and spirited character applies to my sister--my sister is very similar to my mother. They are both wild, both very caring, and loving. And each time my sister says to me: "I LOVE YOU!" I feel as if I'm going to barf with disgust....but I don't hate her. I have fun with her at times. But why do I try to best her all the time? Why do I always try to look smarter than her? When she has a bf, why do I try to steal attract him? What am I trying to prove by my callous actions? WHY am I acting like this?

Perhaps you secretely want that wild characteristic that your mom and your sister has. Jealousy of that characteristic you lack can turn into hate. Because you do not possess that characteristic, you start to turn against it and anyone who possess it. It's very normal for people to be jealous and this jealousy can easily turn into hate without us even realizing.

Hi,

Nothing to worry , you are very well love your mother and sister.
This is human behavior that being of same sex and elder in age you are bound to have superiority complex with your youngers and others of same sex this has nothing to do with your blood relations . This might be possible that your sister may also have same feelings about you. So please be happy that you are a normal girl with no show offs and love your sister and mother.

Enjoy Life

You're jealous. You need to learn to love your sister like she loves you. You're lucky to even have a sister. Think about how you'd feel if anything happened to her. You need to accept her for who she is and understand that the two of you are different and have fun with her and stop hating.

The best thing you can do is to call a local Christian Church and speak with the pastor or his wife.

You will save yourself a lot of grief and learn to change it all around. They have awesome groups your age that are doing a lot of fun things together including traveling....you will be blessed in many ways....

Don't wait
I did and it only got worse....

P.S. God loves you and He loves them too!

I think that you are picking something up on the subconscious level|

What you are in most probability picking up is a kind of phoniness and duplicity|

You say that you have this attitude towards your sister, but you sound honest and you sound concerned about it|

It think that what is happening is that you are reacting to something wrong without realizing it|

You are picking up a duplicity, where something is being said on one level while another meaning is being communicated on another level|

For example when she says: "I LOVE YOU," what you are picking up is sarcasm and contempt for you on another level| Her so-called "fun" is just a subtle means of making fun of you|

focus on your self , focus on bettering yourself and progress, too much energy waste on being jelous , build your self up and proud of who you are. When you start feeling jelous of your sister take time to sit down and write list of thing that you feel gratefull for in your life ,perhaps its that you don't pay rent living with your mom or you have nice and kind friends anything that can lift your spirit up. Again... focus on your self.

Well, I wouldn't know, there could be lots of reasons. If you want to figure out why, the best way is to talk it out through therapy. If she's similar to your mother, and you're embarassed of your mother, this may have something to do with it.
