Well , Transducers are used to tansform the signal from one form to another .. For example

Photo-transistor Transforms Light signals to electric Signals .. also your optical mouse uses transducers to transform the mechanical movement to light signals which inturn transformed to electrical signals so as to enable the Computer to process it ..

In Many Cases , transducers are used in Control Systems Esp Computer Based Control Systems where Analog Signals of Different Nature ( Mechanical , Temperature , ...etc ) will be transformed to electrical signals to be processed by Computer System ....

this is the general Idea behind transducers .

How Does a Transducer work ?

You need to Study Electrical Engineering or Physics To Know how a Photo-Transistor Works ,,, it's really needs lots of math and physics to understand the design and function of transducers .

Good Luck

I believe you are talking of different quantities. In electric power, you are dealing with currents in the magnitude of amperes and even kiloamperes while in analog signals you are dealing in milliamperes. If your idea is to transmit electric power without wires, the present technology can not support that. By the way the electric current is also a form of analog quantity. In the instrumentation of electric substations the analog measurements of voltages and currents of different circuits being monitored are converted to digital signals, by current and voltage transducers, for transmission to the central computer.

Not sure of the question, but try this on. You make a measurement and the result is a voltge. And you have to send this voltage a long distance. One way to do it effectively is to use a voltage-to-frequency convertor chip. Cheap and quite accurate. Now you can send the signal by land-line, radio, optics, sonics, or any other way. To re-convert at the other end you can either use a frequency-to-voltage chip or if you are interfacing into a computer, just count the frequency.
