Lust is what's in it for you, personal desire. Love (true love) is directed toward the other person, their needs and not yours.
Many people get marry for the wrong reasons. I will get sex every night. He is going to protect me and provide for me and take care of me. This is why most marriages last only 5-7 years. Its when couples stop focusing on themselves (lust) and focus on the other (love) that a marriage begins to work.

I like BroEd1's answer.
Lust is defined as seeking one's own gratification of desires.
Love is seeking the best for another person.
Desire, in and of itself, is not wrong. It is healthy in a realtionship, but it needs to be tempered with love so that the desires of one sometimes take a back seat to the needs of the other. Lust can lead to sexual abuse in a relationship, if it is allowed to rule. Love is more powerful and should be the focus of those involved.
I hope this definition helps.

The difference is, lust is deals with sexual feelings that are not good, especially if the person is married. Love is seeing what is on the person's insides, liking them for their character, not just their looks.
