If your makeup is of poor quality it can dry out your skin and even clog your pores (e.g., premature wrinkles and break-outs). You should always start with a good skincare regiment first, (appropriate face wash, moisturizer, and sunscreen for your skin type) to keep your skin healthy. If you are looking for a foundation you should invest in a good department/designer brand. Estee Lauder has a good selection as well as Lancome, these brands typically produce good results in color and in quality. Go to the counter and speak with the reps about what type of skin issues/concerns you have and they will be able to help you pick out a good base. Ask them for a sample so that you can see how it reacts with your skin and if the color matches in direct sunlight. (Both of these brands are non-acnegenic, non-comedogenic >won't clog your pores, and dermatologist tested.) For color it doesn't matter as much, I prefer MAC for color products because they stay on and the color really shows, but over the counter products work too. Just be sure to wash your face every night to avoid excess drying and clogged pores, also if you leave your makeup on all day and don't wash your face it will breed bacteria . . . Hope that helps

It is not healthy for your skin, but you can find some that are not as bad. The make-up they make now is much healthier than it has been in the past. Side effects include clogged pores, more acne, and the more you wear, the less your skin can breathe. I guess it is whether or not you find these risks worth it. I have not had problems with make-up, but I do not put it on all of the time either. But, once you do start to wear it, you will look bad without, even if you do not wear it all of the time. I cannot explain this, maybe it is all in our minds!!

Hi, There are no bad effects to wearing the right make-up if you take care of your skin. Try using the mineral foundations like Bella Rose by Serious Skin Care sold on HSN or Bare Minerals sold on HSN. You can even sleep in these. Be sure to moisterize morning and evening. Good luck !

Lipgloss should be okay
Eyeshadow can dry out and make eys sore and red if you dont get the correct one to suit your skin so always try out the samples
Eyeliner liquid eyeliner can go into your eyes [easily] and then hurts but can be got out easily
Foundation can clog poores so can cause spots you must wash your face atleast twice a day and once a week with a scrub

I am 54 and always wore foundation since 14. I learned it protected my face all those years. I look 35 to40, the areas of skin like my neck aged but not the face. It can clog pours i guess, but a good cleaning can help that. i would suggest using it always to keep young looking.

Unless you use oil-free makeup, your good. Try Netrugena oil-free makeup, it heals acne and covers it during the day at the same time! It costs about $10.00, works like a pro. Leaving ur skin acne-free, smooth, and fresh after u wash ur face that is
