ya I've seen the movie, from what i remember from the very very long movie, is that Helen had moved on and remarried and has a family of her own, so it was not feasible to go back, and i guess all the loved vanished through the years...
and of course there must be lots of islands still not discovered out there...

There are infact many uninhabited islands, islands whose coastlines do not allow for easy mooring, islands with too hostile environments, such as being volcanic.
Helen, did not return to Tom in the film, because in their years apart, she had developed responsibilities and a life with another man, a family. You cannot just walk away from those thing. She is a different person now to the one she was when she was first with Tom, he is different too after his experiences. Their feelings for each other will always be strong, but their lives had be separate all that time and the realities of life are, that you do NOT stand still when separated from those you love. You continue to have emotional needs, you HAVE to integrate and socialize and work, and function , and so you move on......

Helen Hunt's personality became no longer the spouse of Tom Hanks' personality interior the movie "solid Away." She became his fiancee/female friend. in the intervening time, at the same time as he became lengthy gone for years and became stated useless, she moved on and married some different person and had a baby. it really is a nicely performed and tender twist interior the movie.

Helen's character didn't get back with Tom's character because while Tom had been gone for 4 long years, Helen had gotten married and started a family. She couldn't just drop-kick the new life she had established. She had assumed Tom dead.

I've seen it, Helen Hunt's character had remarried and gotten on with her life. It's possible that such an island exists, as there's a lot of water that's not regularly checked. Such a boring movie though.

are you seriously asking this?

she got married, had children and a faithfull husband.
She had to be willing (just like him) to let him go.

as for the island.. there must be 1000's of islands no one lives on.

She was married and had a family. Not that simple. I bet there are islands like that.

MY OPINION IS THAT SHE HAD TO REMAIN STRONG AND SOLID FOR HER CURRENT FAMILY. EVEN THE TRUEST OF LOVES WILL BURN OUT A LITTLE WITH TIME. ALTHOUGH SHE WILL ALWAYS CARRY A STRONG BOND WITH HIM AS HE WILL WITH HER, BUT RATIONAL PEOPLE WILL CONTINUE ON THEIR PATH IN SPITE OF THE BITTERSWEET END OF THEIR FORMER LIFE.

AND I'M SURE THERE ARE PLACES THAT WE DO NOT KNOW ABOUT. BUT HOW CAN ONE SAY FOR SURE IF NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT THEM?
