I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt cause I liked him too. My guess would be that the Orioles actually had an OUTSTANDING offense all around that year and pitchers had to pitch to him more so than if he were on a weak offensive team. They had 7 guys in that lineup w/ 20 or more homers and 5 guys
w/ 94 or more rbi.
Homer stats for the 96 O's:
Brady- 50
Palmiero- 39
Bonilla- 28
Ripken- 26
Hoiles- 25
Alomar- 22
Surhoff- 21
Old man Eddie Murray even added 10 in a limited role too.
The team had a major league leading 257 homers that year, so maybe they had juiced balls in BAL or something? I mean, even Pete Incavilia managed a few homers for them that year!
Interesting question... I guess Palmiero could have shared a few needles that year?

a million) he's retired, and retired long formerly the steroid scandal got here out. He became into probably forgotten via maximum. 2) He had one good season, thats no longer evidence of steroid use. If he became into utilising steroids and thats the reason of leaping to 50 HRs, why did he stop? no person became into testing then. there became into genuinely no talk of steroids in ninety six, so why would not he have saved utilising. It became into basically one super season, an anomoly, that in the process no way befell back. 3) despite if he did, no person cares approximately him. he's no longer a severe profile participant, he wasn't a celebrity, he wasn't something incredible.

1996 seems to be the beginning of what most people believe was the influx of steroid use. It's possible that many may have tried steroids for a short time but didn't like the side effects that came with it and gave it up. Others, as we know, stayed on the juice.

Yes, some form of performance enhancing drugs. But, the balls where juiced also to help create excitement and win back fans after the srike. Much like the NHL has done by changing the rules which has resulted in more scoring. But yes odds really suggest that something suspicous went on.

Yes, I do. How does someone without the use of steroids have 50 home runs in one season with his first seven hitting a combined 72 home runs? He is a steroid abuser.

Only Brady knows for sure but he's not alone in having one of those head-scratching seasons.
Bret Boone (Seattle) enjoyed his best season in 2001, leading the league in runs batted in (141) with career highs in batting average (.331), home runs (37), triples (5), runs (118) and hits (206), earning him a Silver Slugger award.

I definitely think something was up. He didn't have too much power, then suddenly had all-star pop, but just for one year. This is why i think he was on something:
HR's
1992-21
1993-13
1994-12
1995-16
1996-50
1997-18
1998-18
1999-24
2000-19
2001-8
He had 210 total career homeruns. Almost 1/4th of those were in one season.
