I'm torn about this one, myself. Normally I don't really give the Royals a second thought. But I can't help but think that this situation is special.

To his credit, he's stepping up to the job and not asking for special treatment. He's going to do his part and I don't doubt he'll serve Britain with honor.

However, I can't help but think that Prince Harry would have to be about as juicy a symbolic target one can get out there. He's known and loved world-wide, and he'll be in a tank and not skulking inside the Green Zone, and given how popular the war is in both countries I do not find it pleasant to think about how things would play out should anything happen to him. While there would be rage at the insurgents all around, I'm guessing that another likely result would be deep resentment on the part of Britain toward the U.S., and it's hard to see how such a situation could do anything but fray U.S-U.K. relations even if nothing changed at the policy level. The only question is one of degree.

No. For the most part, the British royal family are financial parasites, but here he's doing something purposeful.

What _does_ bug me is that hundred or so clowns in the US and UK governments who started the occupation in Iraq are chickenhawks. The day Harry sets foot on the battlefield, the will have more combat total experience in war than Chicken George, Dickless Cheney, Gonzo, Rumsfelch, Asshcroft, Gorgonzola Lice and all the other neo-convicts put together.

Yes it does bug me. Prince Harry shouldn't have to risk his life for a war he never had anything to do with. Can we trade and send George Bush to Iraq instead and Harry can come to America for awhile?

No
He is doing his duty and accepts that fact.

He can't stay at home sitting on his hands as his colleagues go to war.

no, because he wont do anything there but get photographed so that the royals get the image they want of him as a soldier, when he wont even pull a trigger (if he knows how to). He probably will lay around with some hooker while the rest of the soldiers he is assigned to will stand guard over him so no photos get taken.
The royals have everything planned - with the goal to enhance his image, since it vanished when he appeared in public wearing a nazi uniform.
