What i beleive is that God Created mankind to bless us , to keep us happy , to multiply and to replenish the Earth which He too created. This is what the Bible says. But it was Sin that made mankind loose most of the Blessings of God and earned some curses. But still There is a hope........ thats again the Salvation of God..... He still loves us....its only that we dont remember Him and are busy with our lives. But He waits for us each day. He longs for us to trust in Him than doing things by ourselves.....so finally the ultimate aim of our life is to live in Him and to live for Him. for more information refer......THE HOLY BIBLE

I have always looked at this as a conundrum. If G-d is, was , and always shall be, and the Earth being finite has a fixed beginning, then there was an eternity before the Earth. My question then becomes, "Why did G-d wait so long?"
It is the case in science, that to measure a thing is to change a thing. Perhaps our existence is to punctuate eternity.
I profoundly believe in the Protestant ethic, - Living life successfully & being prosperous is the goal. This is no different from what any parent wishes for their child.

- P.S. If we are a Computer of sorts, then I fear that we may be destroyed 5 minutes before the completion of our program, and Trisha MacMillan & Arthur Dent may well be the only humans to survive. To save you all the trouble, the answer is 42, but it is up to us to figure out what the Ultimate Question really is.

Wow! These are great answers. Socrates said, "The unexamined life is not worth living." Part of this examination is an assessment of your morality. Although morality is relative, it's clearly not good to have no moral standards at all. Soren Kirkegaard helped me a great deal here. He insisted that living a false life, a life based on lies, cheating, delusions about one's abilities and so on, was a worthless life. This led me to the existential confrontation with the self, which is painful but necessary. Fortunately I was not and am not a person of wealth, so I didn't stand to lose as much as other people might have. Nevertheless I lost my inflated sense of self worth, which was humbling. I had to decide that if I couldn't be famous, I could at least be useful. Philosophy is indispensable for answering the Why questions of life, and for defining things that are beyond the ability of science to define, such as the question What is the nature of existence? Science can tell us a great deal about life and living things, but cannot tell us what it is. This is because definitions are left to philosophy.

God was like an artist. He had a blank canvas & wanted to create beauty within it. He created the earth & all its creatures. Like a sculptor he formed us, in His image. He loved us and wanted the best for us. He wants us to also create something beautiful in our lives. The ultimate aim of life is to make the most of it. To appreciate the beauty of the world. To love God, ourselves & each other.

The Hindi word for Creation is 'Leela' or the play, and this is the Lord's play, and what a play it is, ever mysterious, ever enchanting yet very beguiling with its Maya, the power of Illusion.

It is also seen as what He dreams of during his sleep, and then He wakes up from it and the whole creation vanishes at the first blink of His eyes in the morning.

Living as if it is a play, joyously is the only aim of all life; achievement is only a function of the ego, through which we want to attain greatness, fame or immortality.

Let us know that as we breathe that it is unique and it brings us closer to our final one. It is what we do with this breathe is of prime importance.
