Tell him...
If you are honest with him, and yourself, then you will be much less burdend then if you were to loose your fathers trust and his respect for you if he feels you were trying to lie to him.
hope that helps

I'm assuming you painted it because you didn't like the color? Bad paint is easy to fix. Strip the bike down to just the frame. Go to shop that does sandblasting, and get all the paint removed. Your frame will now be bare metal. Now take your frame to a powdercoating shop, and pick a color you like. Powdercoating isn't painted. It's electrostatically adhered plastic powder that is fused to the metal (and to itself) by heating it in a baking oven. The powdercoating will look just like a factory paintjob, but it will be considerably more durable. The last bike frame I got powdercoated only cost me $50.

Tell him the truth. Tell him you started painting it before he told you not to do it. It's best to always tell the truth' making up stories is always a bummer. You have to remember what you said, how you said it, and give a plausible explanation. the truth is soooo much easier.

Dont worry lad, you should have told him when he asked you not to paint it, anyway tell him now without wasting time otherwise he will think you did not obey him, you seem to be a good boy who respects his Parents, tell him now it will do more good than bad, gather your guts, leave the computer and tell him NOW!
