yes, but you still have to get some of your papers back for your marriage requirements... it depends where you are going to marry, church or civil...

my husband went back to the us to get his birth certificate and the paper stating that he's never been married from the vital records.. and some papers from the priest in his place, recommendation, baptismal and confirmation certificate with the interview with two of the people who knows my husband, a relative and a friend... then you have to get the legal capacity here in the us embassy and attend classes about marriage counseling and family planning... we had to get an extension of stay for him at the bureau of immigration.. his family went here to see me and was part of the wedding... it was a perfect wedding... here's the proof, our wedding pictures:http://kimbowman.blogs.friendster.com/photos/wedding_pics/

you wouldnt be able to bring her to the states right away... and better check your funding for the wedding and all the processing fees.. it's not really expensive...

hope our experience was useful for you and your future wife...

Yes I did ...if you a american you need a passport only...not a Visa. You have to go to the Embassy in Manila to get a document know as "Capacity for Marriage" if you are divorced bring your court papers with you. Really you need to be there for 3 weeks to get it done. It is a nice thing fir the Filipina to have a wedding there however I myself would suggest you just get engaged and get her a Fiance Visa which is usually 4 months faster than a Spousal Visa. Either way be sure she has her own papers in order, it is very common that Filipinos have errors on their Birth Certificates which in itself will cause a 6 month delay. Finally contact a good lawyer who will give you advice for free...not many will but I suggest you contact Lester Hill at ezvisa service...he is very good and also willing to talk to you before he is hired. This guy is also much more affordable than many others who do the same task. When you are there be careful of lawyers who will over charge you for a marriage lincence ...it cost about 20 dollars yet I was scammed into paying 400 at the time. ha ha now I know better. In regard the the person who said it takes 6 months they are crazy , 3 weeks is fine ,just start the paper work on the first or second day you are there.

It depends on whether you already have your marriage license ready when you come here, and how long your tourist visa allows you to stay.

You see, there's a three-week (at least) processing period for a marriage license, and that's assuming you submitted complete documents on Day 1. One of the documents required is a certificate of eligibility to marry from your embassy, and that might take up some time.

I hope this helps.

Sure you can - I did. But you have to keep extending your visa until all your paperwork for a resident visa is completed. That will take at least 6 months, and be prepared to pay around 5000 peso to to a BI big shot under the table not to "lose" some of your documents. I had to, and later he had the balls to want more... My wife started screaming sat him, and I went to the US embassy to get a copy which was cheaper than graft.

Yes you can. If you are from America, you need capacity to marry certificate from the U.S. embassy, then you need to file for a marriage license at the local place you are marrying. Then there is a 10 day waiting period before you can tie the knot. Believe me, I did it this way, and that is the rules.

yes, you just present your birth certificate and a certification of your capacity to marry from your embassy to the Office of the Local Civil Registrar of the place where you will get your marriage license ( anywhere in the Phils)
