They have a good shot of going all the way. It's to early to guarantee that they'll win, but I think that the Yankees seem to be among the most likely champions.

A great team starts with great pitching. Mussina isn't an all-star, but he's solid. Wang was second to Santana in just about every pitching stat last year, so he could be the ace of the Yanks' staff. Pettite was 14-13 last year, but he was with the Astros, a team that had offensive troubles. With the Yanks' lineup behind him, he could get 20 wins. Igawa, the lefty they got from Japan was succesful in the Japanese league. How good he'll be in the U.S. is questionable, but he certainly seems to be good enough for a spot in the rotation. Lastly, the Yanks have Pavano. Pavano isn't going to be the ace of the staff, but he is certainly good enough for the fifth spot in the rotation.

In the bullpen, the Yanks are prepared. They've got Rivera, who is one of the greatest closers in the history of the game. Myers is a good lefty specialist. Brian Bruney, another reliever in the Yanks' bullpen, has been impressive with a 0.87 ERA last year. Farnsworth and some of the other pitchers could definitely hold their opponents to a couple of runs.

Lastly, the Yanks can score runs. They havem Matsui, Damon, Abreu, A-Rod, Jeter, Cano, Mientkiewicz, Posada, and Giambi in their lineup. (They've also got Melky Cabrera, whoc is expected to play in a decent amount of games, not to mention functioning as a pinch hitter.) When you think about it, the lineup has few weaknesses. Damon, Jeter, and Rodriguez can steal bases. Rodriguez and Giambi can hit HR's. And everybody can get hits.

The Yankees have a great chance of winning the World Series.

Not this year.
Not as long as a-rod is wearing pinstripes. (4-41 in post season)

NOTE: The Yankees have NOT won a World Series in the 21st Century.

Yo Tiger dude, don't say ur team is gonna beat some1 if u can't even spell their name right. The Yankees will win it all, and I don't see where their rotation is bad. Just becasue their old, doesn't mean their bad, it just means their old.

I think they will. This is there year. They got rid of a lot of dead wood. I also like abreau. He reminds me of paul Oneil, working pitchers. Also A-Rod will bounce back. Hes that type of player. Pitching got younger and my opinion better.

They will have to hope none of their bats go down and then its questionable they definitely dont have the pitching to compensate for major injuries in thier lineup.

A good chance but the pitching might not make it, Mussina and Pettite are old.

I think they will if they have strong pitching this year. With a line up very similar to this

1-Damon
2-Jeter
3-Arod
4-Giambi
5-Matsui
6-Posada
7- Cano

How can you go wrong?
