My mic jack wont work at all. I even bought a new mic and plugged it in to make sure it wasn't the mic that wasn't working and I'm positive it's the computer. Anyone have any idea how much it will cost to repair?

^ sound card, from tigerdirect $ 10

if the sound card is defective, a new one should start $ 10

remove old sound card & plug in new one
even if audio is built-in to motherboard, u can over-ride it by installing the pci card & making it your default audio device !

procedure,

a screw driver is the only tool needed, a philips head ( + ) would be even better
just ensure power chords are removed from wall socket !

install supplied drivers ... done !

# don't forget my $ 73.45

$83.45.

How is anyone here supposed to know what it'll cost?

Most computers now have the sound card built-in to the motherboard. If it's not a connection problem with the plug, it could cost some bucks to fix.
