Because their lawyers tell them they are entitled to all this stuff. You wouldn't believe what my lawyer tried to talk me into asking from my ex. All I wanted was my name back and a restraining order.

When i divorced my husband of 10 years, i left everything but the bed. We settled on everything dealing with our kids b/c he is a good father. I think some women just want revenge and to make their ex's life hell. I just wanted out! If u r taking ur part in caring for the kids I think the ex should be grateful.

I am on the opposite side my husband wanted a lot. The lawyer even asked me if I had Ming vases (Chinese priceless antiques) and there was a fight over my son's piano. His grandfather bought it and it was not a gift to the marriage. It does get pretty awful it does not matter who ends the marriage it only takes one to not want it. These days there is no blame. So have a good lawyer but try to work things out even if it seems unreasonable on her part as negotiating through lawyers is woefully expensive It is easy for me to say this as I paid out without going to court but he did not live long after the payout as I believe he had borrowed more from the wrong people. It was and still is very sad for his children as we could not help him enough......

You need to get yourself back to gather if not to fight for yourself, but for your children and go back to work. If you hurt her physical or mental way then your obligated. Do a self check and see what you need to fix and fix it. Fight back with a lawyer if she left you then hey she may have to pay you. It goes both ways and children can live with mom or dad. Don't let her walk all over you or you her there are children involved and the best interest of them should be looked into. So go to work and keep yourself busy not thinking about her. Good Luck

I feel really sorry for you and agree that it`s unfair of your wife to expect so much especially when she has pushed for the seperation. Yes you should support your children. What sort of chance do either of you have of moving on if you are going to be financially attached to her forever. Good luck in moving your life on away from this woman.

Shes being spitefull, dont let her do it or you will be left with nothing, you are legally intitled to half. My hubby went through the same thing and all he got left with was the car cause he couldnt be bothered arguing with his x wifw so now we are in debt cause we had to buy everything again plus pay $120 per week in child support for one kid. Be strong it doesnt last long.

It's called hate, and taking advantage of a situation by using the system. Although it is getting better for guys we are still in the stone age when it comes to family court.
