UNLIKE YEARS AGO, WE NOW HAVE TO MUCH TV, COMPUTERS CALCULATORS , ETC TO DO THE WORK FOR US, SO OUR BRAIN GETS LAZY, OR JUST AT TIMES "OVERWORKED" & TOO MUCH IS STORED . THE BRAIN TAKES TIME TO REMEMBER OR YOU JUST FORGET IT

It's a common belief that the reasoning behind this is the written language. Back before the vast majority of people were literate, they had to remember things by thinking of witty ways to remember them. Now, we can write notes and don't use that part of our brains as often.
