California Screamin' is a great coaster to have your first loop on!
Just be warned that the most intense and thrilling (and obviously the most fun) part of the ride is not the loop at all, it's the launch. It's not a traditional coaster in the fact that it does not start of with a slow clicking creep to the top of a lift hill. It parks you out on the water, gives you a countdown, and then slings you right into the action! But all in all it's a very fun ride and I believe you'll enjoy it. Honestly, going through a loop, you don't even know you're upside down because your forced into your seat by g-forces and you just feel like you're going uphill for an odd amount of time. One thing to remember about a ride like this, it is very important to keep your eyes open, because then you know what's coming.
Also, about Space Mountain, just know that it's not like California Screamin' at all, although it is very disorienting because it takes place in the dark. You cannot see what is coming. On top of that, there's also moving stars and lights and special effects projected everywhere inside the mountain, which will make it appear that you're moving faster than you really are. So in some ways, Space Mountain is actually WORSE that California Screamin'.
Tower of Terror is also extremely fun. You will not get that drop in your stomach feeling because its a very very VERY CONTROLLED drop. Honestly, it's not even one large drop it's a series of ups and downs, acceleration and deceleration both ways (up and down) and that's what makes the ride. That and the view from the top is incredible. Most of the ride you're actually zooming up the shaft instead of falling down it. Just be warned that the first drop is designed to take you by surprise so be ready for it, it's actually in the second "Floor Stop" scene. when the doors open and you see ghosts beckoning you down a corridor of the Hollywood Hotel. The first "Floor Stop" scene is just a creepy mirror where you see the entire elevator in a reflection and you can wave at it and stuff and then lightning hits it and they somehow manage to take your reflection away and all you see is an empty elevator. (Cool effect.) Then you move up a floor and stop and do the second scene. Pay attention to those ghosts on the second level, but not too much attention, because as soon as they make their quick exit...you make yours. Then the chaos starts and you're in for the craziest, zaniest elevator ride of your life.
You'll definitely want to ride all of these again after you conquer them your first time.
If you want to know the top speeds and some other stats on pretty much any roller coaster on the planet, including the Disney ones, check out The Roller Coaster Data Base. I've included a URL.
Good Luck and have a great time. They wouldn't make these rides if they weren't safe and fun!

Go for California Screamin' ... I promise you'll like it. It really is the most tame big roller coaster I've ever been on. I think it's actually tamer than Space Mountain. It's a great roller coaster for beginners that aren't up for something too crazy. Don't worry about the loop, it's really over before you know it, and contrary to what you'd think, you don't feel like you're going to fall out... you actually feel more pressed into your seat.
As for Tower of Terror. Hmm, if you really hate losing your stomach on drops, this ride may not be for you. I'm all for taking risks and all, but if you really hate this feeling, well, that's all that this ride is. I kid you not, that's ALL the ride is... Rather disappointing if you ask me. You go up, and get dropped, up and dropped, up and dropped, etc. That's it! I think seeing the cool stuff in the hotel lobby while waiting in line is more fun than the ride. Plus, after you finally think that you're in the ride, you move onto the next part and have to wait in line again for another 20 min to get on the actual ride...
Anyway, in conclusion:
California Screamin': YES
Tower of Terror: NO
Also make sure you hit Soarin' Over California, it's the best ride ever! Have fun!

California Screamin' was my first looping coaster and I loved it! Being upside down isn't as bad as it sounds, but if it really worries you, then just close your eyes at that part. It doesn't really have a lot of stomach-losing drops, so you'll be fine there.
As for Tower of Terror, if you really hate that stomach dropping feeling, then it may not be a good ride for you. But otherwise, I think Tower of Terror is more fun than California Screamin', because it has a story and special effects. My mom hates roller coasters/wild rides and refuses to go on California Screamin', but she will go on Tower of Terror.
Make sure to go on Soarin' Over California too! I hope you have fun! =]

Hi! California Screamin' was my first loop too. I was so scared! But once I did it, it was so fun! The loop really isn't anything. About 3 seconds long. The ride is amazing! But, I have to say, I did not enjoy the Tower of Terror. It was soooo scary for me! You should try the Tower of Terror first. Don't miss Grizzly River Run or Soarin' Over California. If you really love Space Mountain, you'll like California Screamin' even better. To better prepare yourself, watch some videos of the rides on youtube.com. Enjoy yourself and have a wonderful time! :)

okay, i have been on all of those rides. I went to Disneyland a couple days after Christmas. Space Mountain is all in the dark , but there are no loops. It was probably my favorite ride there, but it isnt at California Adventure. Tower of Terror is a lot of fun too, but the line is always really long and its not that long of a ride. It is very suspenseful and exciting, but not necessarily scary, more thrilling. California Screamin' is pretty fun too. ITs loop isnt too bad. I think you will be just fine on all the rides.

Honestly, they're pretty mild as far as "scary" coasters go. They're not THAT bad, really. There's only one loop on California Screamin' and it's not a huge scary one. I actually think you might enjoy these attractions...and I commend you for taking that risk and conquering your fear! =)
They're both favorites of mine. I LOOOVE Tower or Terror, it's such a thrill.
And if *I* like these, you should be able to handle them. I used to be one of those people who LOVED crazy, wild, scary coasters and rides...but ever since having my daughter a year ago, I don't know WHAT it is, but I just can't handle the super wild coasters now. So for me to say I LOVE Tower of Terror and California Screamin should tell you that they're really not THAT bad.
I hope you have fun!

I live a block away from D-land and my wife and I go all the time, so I've been on both rides plenty of times. California Screaming is sweeeet! And don't sweat the loop; going upside-down is not what you'd expect. You are pressed back in your seat, so you don't really feel too weird when you're upside-down. It's lots of fun. Anyhow, it's a great coaster.
Tower of Terror is OK. I mean, it's fun the first few times, but it gets old quickly. Basically, it's just an "elevator" that falls. So, it's a series of big drops. It's fun, but if you don't like that "falling stomach" feeling, you might want to skip this one.
Have fun.

Oh snap that was totally me!! I was scared out of my mind to go on the tower of terror, but there was no way I was going to let my 6 year old brother show me up... so I went and I screamed my guts out and it was incredible!! I get so sick on roller coasters, but this wasn't bad, and as for loops? It's the biggest rush! Embrace these chances, you will sorely regret it later if you let them pass you by! Have a blast!!!
