I don't know, I myself have gone without sleep for 6 days. That was my longest period. But then I average 3 hours of sleep a night.

Not sure, but probably after 18 hours of being awake, a person will start feeling tired unless they're one of those people who can feel fully functional with only an hour's sleep. I'm going to say around 48 hours because this one guy played World of Warcraft for about that long and DIED because he was depriving himself of sleep and this made his heart stop. Don't try it.

Sleep deprivation is a torture technique and it works. Many have cracked after a week of not sleeping. Personally, the longest I have ever gone is 72 hours when I was working 2 jobs. It wasn't pleasant, but I did it. I slept like a rock afterward though. Good question!!

You can stay up for a good while.People get strung out on meth and stay up for 2-3 days.
I wouldn't recommend staying up more than 24 hours no matter what.I've done it and even though I didn't feel that tired when I did go to bed I slept for like 16 hours straight.

And the other poster quotes a true story.Guy died form heart failure playing video games for 50 hours straight.I think he had like 15 minute breaks but not real rest and only got up to get more drink and use the bathroom.

ok. First of all, I have stayed up for at least 72 hours straight. It depends on the person.

This is the Guinness Record for longest period of time being awake. This guy stayed up for 11 days straight

As far as we know, indefinitely. You can, in theory, stay awake as long as you want.

I wouldn't recommend it, though. It's extremely unhealthy.

It doesn't kill a person, but it (sleep deprivation) does kill rats, so that should tell you somethign right there.
