Supermodel- A famous model that is internationally known, she can probably get almost any job she wants and star in any ad.
Model- A person who models clothes, doesn't have to be famous...but is most likely trying to be.

A supermodel is a term that was coined by models in the 80s. They thought they were the "it" models. They considered themselves to be the most in demand and have the most fashion covers.

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen is paid $30 million per year. Tyra Banks $18 million, Adriana Lima $4 million. That's super model status for sure.
There are many models for catalogs who make $20,000 per year.
$200,000 is perhaps the start of super status ... but, you can see the sky is the limit.
With 6.5 billion people on the planet and perhaps 6,500 super models ... it is a long shot (low probability) ... like becoming a top tennis player. It is more than just looks, talent ...but instead a lot of luck of having the "look" folks want at the right time.

A supermodel is known worldwide and has worked with the best of the best.
A model does like regular catalouge shoots.

supermodels are always used in high end fashion, even regular models are the difference is a supermodel you know who they are when you hear their name. They are more visible than most other models. And their pocketbooks $$$ are fatter

the difference between super model and model.. is like the difference between superman and.. man.. ones just better ... plus kudos for them if they can melt a lot of crap with laser vision... and wear their underwear on the outside of course...
