good question. I honestly don't remember my parents ever reading stories to me. I learned how to read at a young age so I would always read to myself, and before I knew how, I would just look at the pictures in a book and make up a story according to what the picture looked like. Growing up, I really liked disney and animal stories.

My parents never read bedtime stories to us as kids. But my sister and I read them to each other! We LOOOVED books and reading (and still do!). I remember liking the "Amelia Bedelia" books...and any Disney books...and a book called "Put me in the Zoo" (I forget who it's by!)...and any fairy tale types of books...like "Rapunzel" and "Princess and the Pea" and "The Little Mermaid", etc.

What a great parent you are to read to your girls! I read to my 13 month old also. =)

To be honest, my favorite was a book about how to use a camera. Then again, the way my dad read it, every other section ended in "throw the camera away".

I had more fun (so did the "kid") reading "Mr. Brown Can. Can you?" by Dr.Suess to my son.
I always tried to make the sounds as if I was imitating the animals. I laughed. My boy laughed. The Ol' Lady laughed.
