www.applevacations.com is a good site. I like this site because they include all taxes etc. Some the other sites don't include everything. I also like www.libertytravel.com. Go to these sites put in your dates, select specials and see what comes up. If you have a destination in mind, all the better.

A great site to check out hotels is www.tripadvisor.com. Once you pick out a hotel you can check out the reviews on this site and also ask questions.

What I usually do is research all the sites and than call my travel agent and they most likely can match the price or do better. When I travel to a foreign country, I prefer booking with a travel agent. I'm much more comfortable.

Good Luck and Happy travels

May I ask why is it you want to purchase your vacation on a website? Travel agents can quite frequently get lower prices than any online site nowadays.

Online for so many years under-cut agents to make everyone always just "assume online is always cheaper". Think of how many of you no longer compare or go through an agent thinking they are "always higher". Well you may want to start looking at agents again; because I guarantee you and have proven it that there are many of you that are paying more.

We many times have promo codes that save you money. You definitely want to book in advance for those as they have expiring dates on them (they vary on the dates and amount of money off).

Plus, we all know that problems can happen while on a trip that is just unavoidable. I had some clients last year who stayed at a wonderful resort in Mexico. The resort had water issues to where they had no water in there room for 3 days! This is a 4+ star resort they stayed at and these things, yes can still happen. My clients called me upon return. I followed up with the vendor, then the vendor to the resort and they in turn refunded 3 nights stay to my clients. This is just one of the many examples of situations I have seen over the years.

Now, if this would have happened to you in booking on Orbitz then you would have called an 800 # waiting for the next available rep. Then you hope that you find someone who will help you, because let me tell you Orbitz WILL not refund you anything or most likely even help you. You are relying on not a single person (me) doing everything in my power to help on this, but 1 single res. agent who this is the 1st time they have even heard your name. Do you think they will follow up with you on this? I think we all know the answer to that.....

Please though, consider going through an actual professional. We don't tack on commissions as many think we do. See if you call a vendor direct you pay the same amount it's just the vendor makes more money. Many agencies will charge a very nominal service fee, but if you find yourself a good agent trust me it's worth it because they do lots of searching to find you not only the best price, but save YOU time in the process.

Unless people like to search endless online sites for travel, I know I can think of many other better things to do with my time. Hey I have lots of clients who like to "research" locations, hotels, etc. That can be part of the fun, but the hours of pricing to me just isn't.

Have a great trip and remember though, do book in advance. Things are changing to where those that book in advance will be getting the better prices as the price you pay has a big part to do with the availability when you book your trip.

Find yourself a good, honest, knowledgeable agent and stick with them! Travel Agents like any profession have the good, the bad and the ugly. Were not all bad though!
