ok so i plugged my Hard drive in the Device manager its recogniced but i cant run the installation on it it says error
it says disk 0
opn my working one it says disk 1 so should my new HD say disk 2 and if so how do i do thta

It needs to be partitioned, and then formatted. If using XP or 2000 do the formatting in NTFS format.

Oddly enough you don't do these from device manager. I know it's a bit funny, but I suspect MS hid it to prevent accidental deletions.

You do it from Disk Management. Right click on My Computer, select Manage, and you'll see it there. Just be careful not to mess with the existing partition.

The new one has to be formatted for your OS to recognize it. Good Luck

hd0 would be your boot drive, maybe you have your jumpers incorrectly placed. If you are using an EIDE and have CS make sure that your boot drive is at the end of the cable and your add on is in the middle.

no need to fromat.. right click on my computer & go to manage...
in that go to disk management.. there you will able to see both the HD... select new one and partition it... and format it... that's// it..
i dont know these stepls bcoz i dont have extra hd to test.. if any problem ... contact me.. with out hesitaiton..

you have to format the new drive so windows will recognize it.
