I have a lot of ginger bushes in my yard. (Houston area). There were tons of beautiful fragrant blooms last year. I want to mix them with baby oil to make a ginger scented body oil. I don't know anything about the varieties of Ginger. Is all ginger safe to use? Can I cook with it? Or make tea?

Lucky you I have tried to get a ginger root to grow (maybe i watered it too much. the ones i bought at the grocery store. they sprout. but won't grow. Maybe i should keep on trying . I buy fresh ginger root at the grocery store all the time grate it and make tea. I add honey(and lemon) and just use a little grated ginger root because it is hot but good for a cold or even if you just want a cup. It can be used other ways as well. I would more then likely make a good massage oil-i have never tried it -not yet anyway.. Whole cloves is good for that but you need to close it up in a bottle of oil(olive oil works) and let it set for quit a while. Now you are giving me some ideas--Thanks.

Ok. Do research b4 u take this advice. But, I think that Ginger root can be chewed as an alleviation to motion sickness. I heard it about 2 months ago from a pilot, but I may have heard wrong, or forgotten something. Do research, but if im right, then you could use it for tea, or whatever.

Baby oil is mineral oil and fragrance, mineral oil does not penetrate your skin, vegetable oils will. If you want ginger scented oil try using another unscented oil as a vehicle; olive oil, safflower oil, almond oil...
