I know I should bring an outfit to take the baby home in, but how many sleepers, onesies, etc. should I bring to the hospital? I'm actually not really sure what to bring for the baby at all. Help?

Honestly you don't need to bring anything but a going home outfit for the baby. The hospital will provide onsies, blankets, hats and diapers for you while you're in there. The amount of stuff that is listed in books and on websites is ridiculous IMO. I packed a bunch of crap for my first hosp birth and most of it just sat in the bag and had to be hauled out with everything else when we left. For yourself, bring your own nightclothes if you don't want the gowns - just be prepared, you'll probably sweat like crazy, so the hosp gowns might be better because you won't have to launder them. Socks/slippers are a good idea as well as your own undies. Forget the alarm clock. Sleep when you can. Good luck!

when I had my son 2 years ago I took a couple sleepers to the hospital because I wasn't sure exactly how big he was going to be, or if I was having a girl or boy for that matter. It was mostly for going home. The hospital provides your baby with diapers, disposable or cloth, cloths for diaper changes in place of wipes, blankets, a hat, and usually baby size hospital gowns. We had them all stocked inside the hospital basinet. Actually I still have a couple blankets from the hospital, I accidentally packed them with the rest of my stuff when I was getting ready to go home. I would suggest bringing a hat, a sleeper and a blanket for when you are going home. If you live somewhere warm, you may not need the blanket and the hat, but just in case I would bring both anyway, you never know what the weather is going to be like by the time you are coming home. When I had my son the hospital was using cloth diapers but said I could use my own diapers if I wanted to, now they only use disposable diapers around here. I would recommend that if your hospital uses face cloths for wiping during a diaper change, use them, with warm water they work better on tar poops than wipes do, a little extra soft texture goes a long way.

I can help you out with this. You don't need alot of clothes... usually the baby is in a diaper and a blanket or some hospitals provide a gown... you can bring up to 4 lightweight sleepers if you want but usually they 'bundle' them in receiving blankets which they provide. HEre is my hospital list. There is everything you need on here.

your own comfy pillow
nursing pillow

The hospital will supply the baby with onesies until the doctor checks you out of the hospital while the doctor checks you out you can dress the baby in an outfit to take it home in. IF you want your baby to wear a certain outfit for pictures then the one you are going to bring it home in then you can bring 2. Other then that they supply the formula if your not breastfeeding, the diapers, a Pacifier if you want it to have one, onesies, and blankets also it will get a hat to keeps its head warm.

I brought my son an outfit to go home in and a pic outfit. I did bring him the side snap onesies and a gown for teh hospital stay, but really the hospital provides everything for you that the baby could need, it was not really necessary except for the pic and going home outfit.

Now that I think about it, it was tragic enough for them to come out of their comfy womb to this bright cold world, don't start dressing them up right away.

The hospital usually just keeps the baby in a diaper and onesie and wrapped in a blankie until you are ready to go home....Just bring an outfit, a onesie, a little hat..depending on what time of the year you are delivering..a coat or a snowsuit, a heavy hat...thats all you will need to bring the baby home....Good Luck~

A washed, soft sleeper, a onesie, and a pair of socks. Also, a one piece sack with a hood that would act as a coat from head to toe. A hat is a must. Babies lose most of their heat through their heads. If you live somewhere that is not too cold, choose light weight versions of these. I would also have a soft fleece blanket to drape over the baby and another one to put over the baby carrier to keep the drafts out. Congratulations!

the hospital will supply the onesies and blankets until you leave. one outfit will be ok. (i brought 2- one to take the baby home in, and one to have the pictures taken that they offer.) its also a good idea to bring socks and a blanket or two.

the hospital should provide everything for use in the hospital, just the one outfit for going home , and make sure its warm enough if you live in a cold climate.
