A crown is another name for a HEAD
THE reason J+J went up the hill to fetch a pail of
water is ~They were entrusted by the farmer to see if the horses were back at the stables yet!
but alas no sign of them, well theres a saying
the Devil makes work for idle hands and in J+Js case it turned out to be very true,They both shared a lit cigarette even though they were not old enough to do so,and the stables went up in flames, hence frantically clambering uphill with a pail to fetch water in the blind panic jack was not watching his step and sort of "snowboarded" or skidded on goose doo doo and slid right over the edge at 75mph breaking his crown
paramedics, police,g.bush ,oj simpson everyone turned up to help or to see the accident site for themselves (people love blood and accidents)jill was poohing herself because the fire was in full swing now,the short of the story is jill told police and fire investigators that herself and jack were foolishley lighting each others farts up for fun
but jack had eaten beans earlier that day
and a almighty flame (similar to a burning oil well)
whooshed out from the seat of jacks pants and flamethrowered the stable, this was a better story than cigarette smoking her parents would have gone ape sh1t about that,so it wasnt too bad
oh jack regained conciousness 3mnths later
and the knock on his head has made him think
that he is a middle aged black woman called
gloria,its a true story...yep

They didnt have a tap in there house so had to go to the nearest well. It wasnt a crown as in a kings crown but the crown of his head. Which is on top of ur head. Thats why he went home and left poor Jill still on the hill and fixed his head with vinegar and brown paper.

They went up the hill for it, because there was no mains water connected to their house, they had to take water from the well,Jack wasn`t wearing a crown ! The crown he broke was his head( the crown -part of his head) He was just a simple boy not a king.

I think his crown is the crown of his head, but you're right -- it makes no sense that the well would be at the top of the hill. What were they doing up there, anyway? And why did they both fall? Did Jill lose her balance after she pushed Jack? I'm a little suspicious.

They didn't go up the hill to fetch a pail of water. But it's a kid's rhyme, so you can't tell them why they really went up the hill!
But the crown refers to the top of his head. Jack obviously wasn't using his.

This was only ever a fiendish plot to enslave children. Parents and teachers collaborated to invent this story so that children the world over could be bullied into doing menial chores, under threat of having their "crown" broken. They sent them all the way to the top of a distant hill on the pretence of "fetching water" from an imaginary well so the parents could be left in peace to fornicate.

It is true that the referance to a crown, is the referance to his head being damaged. If you go on the way to repair the damage was with 'vinegar and brown paper' which was an acceptable way to repair, cuts bruises and abrasions in the middle ages.
