Regular pencils are cheaper though Mechanical pencils have a thinner led so for drawing your lines stay more consistently sized, also you won't have to keep getting up to sharpen them.
You can find mechanicals that have much better styling but are easily mistaken for a pen and you might find yourself stuck with the wrong implement for the task at hand.
Mechanicals are also more likely to be swiped.
By the way this seems like a question that only just a little bit of a nerd would ask. Am I right?

Regular wood pencils. The lead for mechanical pencils is expensive, and I don't live near a store that sells it. Just give me a regular pencil, or better yet a pen.

I prefer mechanical pencils when i need to jot down something but if i have to draw out my concept, i need a wooden pencil or a graphite pencil with the only use for drawing.

mechanical pencils are just good for jotting down because of their low maintenance and constant pen line. But wooden pencils can express artistic emotions because you can have a thick line or a thin line.

Mechanical.
I love it how you don't need a sharpner or anything. If you run out of lead, just put some more in.
Although they cost a little bit more, they're worth it, i think.
