How does my computer lose about 400Megs of free space on its own about every week?

I am not downloading anything, I am not doing anything to add anything to my hardrive.

sounds like you're picking up a crap load of ad ware or trojans or both...

Get the free program ad-aware. IT will scan your comp for both and is quite good, also make sure that your virus protection is up to date.
