Here we go again, people jumping in and saying Bettas will fight all other fish and kill them!!! Single male Bettas are great for community tanks, ive had Bettas in community tanks for many years with no problem.

Regarding the being kept with G/F , Ive seen them live happily along side with gold fish but Its not something I would do. Also a pond Isnt really a great place to have a betta, there more the tropical fish, even though they are very hardy and can live in a vast range of temps and PH. Gold fish are nippers also and they may nip away all the Bettas fins if there male and stress the betta out.

Bettas are tropical, gold fish are coldwater. There's a big problem right there. Goldfish are messy. 2 in a 20 gallon is over capacity, plus they'll get way bigger than the betta, which is never good. Goldfish are also faster than a betta, who is a relatively slow swimmer, so it will be hard to make sure it gets food, especially as the goldfish grow.

Also, bettas don't do well in strong currents. Their fins are like a giant parachute. It can't really swim too well against it, and it's not good for it. They're not very fast/strong swimmers, as I mentioned.

You should try searching for older answers before posting a question. I'm pretty sure this same thing has been answered about 10 times this week. I know questions have been asked about bettas and goldfish, bettas and other fish, how big a tank a goldfish needs... just in the past week.

No. This won't work.

1. common goldfish, which you have, will grow to 12-14" long, they will need MUCH larger tanks or an outdoor pond. they're coldwater and make a lot of mess. they nip and bully other fish in the tank, and once big enough will probably make a meal out of the betta.

2. a betta is a tropical fish needing warm water. a goldfish in warm water has their metabolism speeded up causing even MORE mess in the water. a betta will suffer in mucky water and die.

No, first no fish should be in a bowl. They are death traps. Secondly goldfish and bettas have two different temperature needs. Goldfish is cold water, betta is warm. Third betta's need 5+ gallon and goldfish need 55 gallons depending on the type. And finally bowls cannot be heated or filtered.

bettas and goldfish are a really bad match. male goldfish chase and nip which would be bad on the betta's fins. goldfish also don't swim very well so the betta could do major damage before you even noticed. ponds are great for goldfish but not for bettas. the day/night temperature difference would be really hard on them unless you live in the tropics.

depends on the fish
i have put a female betta a male
and 13 goldfish in a 10 gallon and none of them fought
i say you try it out?

the fountain could affect the betta if the current is moving to fast for it

your going to have a problem with feeding this combination. Goldfish eat a mainly veggie flake/pellet diet while bettas primarily are insect/worm (small worm) eaters hence a meaty flake/pellet diet. the goldfish out grow (read overwhelm) the betta 10 to one so feeding will be next to impossible as they grow. unless you live in a tropical zone the pond is only suitable for the goldfish temperature wise so its best to go with only those. the fountain part is okay as it circulates the water promoting extra oxygen

No, beta fish really don't get along with any fish very well.

I think beta fish may require a different water temperature than goldfish.

I used to have a number of fish, but fish are high maintenance. Good luck!
