why is my truck quieter with a good head and carb?

I recently changed a head and got a new carb for my truck, now most of you out there(that mes with old vehicles) know what a 350 sounds like with straight pipes and fully broke in glass packs, it was loud, now that I changed tht head and got a new carb its quieter? whys that? 75 chevy truck

Improved breathing makes the engine work less to produce power easier. It uses fuel more efficiently.

You make have had some escaping exhaust and the new parts stopped the problem.
