I have heard they are selected using a "random generator", but what exactly does this mean? Can this process use manipulatory techniqes to influence the various outcomes to the advantage of the lottery commission and their bankbook?

Well it could, definitely. They have tried to "fix" the lottery in the past and gotten caught. Once I heard on the news that they put sand in some of the balls that they draw the numbers with. This made them heavier and therefore they did not rise up as far. The people could then play the numbers of the balls that did not have sand because they knew they had a better chance to rise.

Someone caught on and they were investigated. I do believe that if this were happening then it would be noticed at some point.
