All that likely happened is that you allowed him to help you relax, then nature took over from there.

Also, some people are simple more "suggestable" than others, and can be hypnotised rediculously easily. Some people are next to impossible, even if they want to do be hypnotised.

A long-lost acquanitance once agreed to allow a hypnotist to put him under, and even though he was willing to do it, and wanted to co-operate, he could not be put under. Someone else went on stage when asked (before my friend), and was boasting that the hypnotist was welcome to try, but he could'nt be hypnotised...he was in a trance before he could complete his protest.

Some people have theorised that it has to do with how much the person craves to be in control, or fears the results of loosing control. The theory is that the stronger the fear of loss of control, or need for control, the harder it is to be put in a trance.

Incidentally, the hypnosis isn't want you have to worry about, it is the post-hypnotic suggestion that theoretically could have been placed...a susceptable victim in the audience who did not participate actively, could take *any* comment from anyone in the vicinity and integrate it as a post hypnotic command/triggerable event.

Again, its all in your mind. The stage hypnotist don't actually do anything. People just trick themselves into believing that they were hypnotized when in fact, they were in control the whole time. Look past what you remember happening and you will realize that nothing actually happened. Your mind can make you remember things that never actually occured.

You are highly suggestible people, your friends more so than you. In the same way that if one person yawns, others may do so, too, and vomiting can sometimes induce others to join in, you saw them sleeping and it had a similar effect on you.
