I heard from people that download.com was not safe to get it from is this true?

Spybot search and destroy is a good program. I use Adaware myself, but the best one according to different tests from different technology websites and magazines is Webroot, too bad it costs $30
If it's worth the money to you, you will have much better protection with webroot.

Yes, that is the correct site for Spybot Search & Destroy. It is a good programme. When you set it up, configure the resident programme. It silently blocks thousands of malicious addresses. i have been using it for several years. The first time you run it, you could have hundreds of hits, depending on how long you have been on the internet, and what sites you have been frequenting. Ignore the comment that said the programme is outdated. It, just like other quality programmes, is updated on a regular basis.

Spybot is good, get a few other ones to cause no one program can detect all spyware. I currently use three and spybot is one of them here's a list of free ones http://www.basicspywaretips.com/spywareremovaltool.html

i've heard that there are some infected programs downloads on downloads.com but i never have found something malicious there myself, so it might be only a rumors.

yes it works quite well, just make sure to update and re-immunize at least 3 times per week,, after all, the spyware creators dont take any time off...

Its a pretty good anti-spyware program even though its a bit outdated.
