Phillippians 2:10 Also the deacons must be blameless before him, as the ministers of God in Christ, and not of men. Not false accusers; not double tongued; not lovers of money; but moderate in all things; compassionate, careful; walking according to the truth of the Lord, who was the servant of all.

I believe it fits other believers, of many other religions, than it does the Christians of today. Especially today's shouters.

No it is not Paul, it is part of Polycarp.

Again Christians find what isn't there to rationalize their position. Nowhere in the question or detail do I write the word "all Christians."

I love how you worded your question. It is quite apparent, that you see what we all see, as in how well they follow their own religion. Most 'christians' do not even fully understand their own bible, or the path which they have chosen.

I see, that most other religions, do stay true to their paths. In all my life, family included, I have yet to meet a true christian. That is the real myth.

You cannot judge an entire group of people just by the most prominent members. It is true that many Christians fall short on those requirements, but so do most people. I will not say whether Christians as a whole are better or worse than any other religious group (or unreligious group), because I do not know.

I have been constantly shifting between Christianity, atheism, and agnosticism for many years. For every thing that draws me towards the Church, it seems two more things drive me away. I have some to the conclusion that the important things about being a Christian are not about the church. The important things are caring for others and knowing that nothing selfish in this world is so important that one needs to turn to means that hurt others.

Jesus was supposed to be a servant to all mankind, and he was without sin. There are no people who are unflawed, but the best we can do is try to emulate the ways of someone who was believed to be perfect. Care for others before yourself. Be forgiving and generous and kind. I think that is more important than shouting your beliefs on television and bullying people to convert. A crucifix around your neck will never make you a good person, and going to church will not make you perfect.

I guess I didn't really answer your question! No, I don't think Christians, or anyone for that matter, fulfill those requirements all the time. I don't think anyone will always walk the line between good and evil (as defined by their morals and/or beliefs) without occasionally falling on the wrong side, however slightly.

I don't know if the passage fits other religion's believers more than Christians, because I don't know enough people in the world to make an educated guess even. On television you only see the best and the worst, or rather people portrayed as the best and the worst. I think if everyone acted as a "servant of all," no one would want for anything, but it is a hard task to convince everyone to turn from our naturally selfish ways.

This is how God wants these men to live...but God is no fool. He knows that the humans that are appointed to these positions will be less then perfect.
As much as it is possible to find men that exhibit these traits, these are the ones that should be appointed to this position. If they do not live up to the job requirements they should be disciplined or fired. However, a perfect person is never going to be found earth before Christ comes again.

No, I do not. I have to agree with the implied observation. At this point in my life if someone tells me early on in conversation that they are christian - alarm bells go off. From personal experience these tend to be the most opinionated, close minded, least critically thinking, unkind and angry cross section of people that I come across on even a semi-regular basis.

I can't help but think that in most cases the Christ they claim to worship would not be pleased.

I'm not a Christian, I'm Wiccan, but this would be good for all the live that way. Me, I live in the heart of the Lord and Lady. I see the pain in world and know there is still love.

This verse was part of Paul's requirements to be a Deacon in the church, not the requirement for all Christians. But it is a goal we should all strive for.

All Christians should strive to be more "Christ-like".

Terry, I think the majority of Christians try to live blamelessly. We are all still, only human, and imperfect. Not one of us could part the Red Sea, or move a mountain, for we all lack the faith necessary to do it. Yet all Christians live by faith...and it is still imperfect.

Wow.
That is one of shortest, to-the-point examples of maligning a religion of millions upon millions of people in thousands of countries across the earth. You should get a reward, or something! It isn't often that people are completely incapable of differentiating individuals from groups!

I do not think you should judge ALL christians by the few you see on TV who clearly go against the bible.
