I'm in the show Footloose, and they've asked us to pick up some costume pieces. I need a slick kind of , Chicago, 80s scene; a school outfit in a rural, beatdown country town; a prom dress; and other accessories to go a long with each....pictures, websites, etc. wud be MUCH appreciated! I've googled it, but the matches are the "side ponytail" corny kind of look. I'm looking for genuine stuff here....thank you thank you thank you!

Haha, yea I was born in the early 90s....I'm just wondering also where I can get these items....I've looked around in thrift stores and asked family friends, but everyone seems to only have the waist high skinny jeans.

Oh wow you need to watch my favorite cartoon of the 80's Jem. Think fun off shoulder tops, leg warmers, ankle boots., tights, bangle bracelets, wide belts. tiered mini skirts, ballet flats, jean jackets, jeans with holes, big colorful earrings, headbands, wristbands. Ever see any Molly Ringwald movies? Big hair is also major, look at pics of Madonna from that era and Cyndi Lauper.
These fashions are so easy to find these days by going to a thrift store if you don't want to buy new "vintage" at a huge price, hope this helps!

Why not rent some movies that were made in the 80's to see what they wore in those. For the life of me I can't remember anything but jeans with pleats in the front, of course our jeans were at the waist. Trying to think of some photos of me. It was the time of sweaters with one shoulder off to the side, like I guess in Flashdance. It was also sort of the beginning of leggings and leg warmers. Not really coming up with anything special that stands out. Rent some movies from the time.

Let's see...big, permed hair, bright make-up colors, WAY too many large accessories. There were shirts with wide necklines that hung off one shoulder (you wore a tank top underneath), real skinny jeans and high heels. Oh, also short, tight skirts in prints like, for example, turquoise cheetah. For your prom dress, think "puffy" (like the pink one the chick wore in Napolean Dynamite). It was not an attractive decade. We were all glad when it was over.

that side ponytail was an 80's look, it's corny if you grew up in tyhe 90's. Try some leg warmers and spandex, that was popular in the 80's

Definitely rent a few 80's movies! Try eBay to find some cheap clothes. I see 80's style stuff all the time.
